The next time that family and friends gather to see in your house, "the game", or you are planning a party tailgating, add these delicious cookies to your list of foods. French fries and sauces, sandwiches, etc. are great. But will astound your guests with these wonderful biscuits. These cookies sugar maple are good all year, but only seem to say, "if" and "football."
Maple Sugar Cookies
1 1 / 4 cups sugar
1 / 2 cup butter
1 / 2 cup solid shortening
2 eggs
1 / 4 cup of maple flavorPancake syrup
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 cups flour
Baking powder 3 / 4 tsp
1 / 2 teaspoon baking powder
1 / 2 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine sugar, butter and shortening. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add to beat the eggs, syrup and vanilla extract as well.
In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Gradually add cream to the mixture with the mixer at low speed. Mixtureuntil well blended. Divide the dough into quarters. Note: If the dough is too sticky, wrap each in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1 hour and quarter.
Spread a tablespoon of flour on a large sheet of waxed paper. Place one quarter of the dough on floured wax paper. Flatten dough slightly and flip cover with another sheet of waxed paper. The dough 1/4-inch thick. Cut with floured cookie cutter. Transfer to the type of parchment paper, 2-inches. Spraydecorated with simple baking or frost later.
Repeat the process with the remaining quarter.
Bake at 375 degrees for 5-9 minutes (up to 9 minutes more cookies, cookies, small for 5 minutes). DO NOT overbake stability. Let cool for 2 minutes on baking sheets then remove to cool completely on wire rack. Frost if desired.
Yield: 3-4 dozen, depending on size.
